Frequently Asked Questions

What is semi-permanent makeup?

Discover the beauty of Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) at Rachel Rose Cosmetic Tattoo.

Semi-permanent makeup involves depositing pigments into the skin to enhance your natural features such as eyebrows, eyeliner and lips. Experience the convenience of waking up with flawless makeup everyday without actually having any on. Each Semi-permanent Makeup treatment is tailored uniquely for you.

What is the difference between microblading and machine brows?

Both methods are used to create semi-permanent makeup however both are very different. Microblading is a hand tool method, this is a hand held blade where the pigment is etched into the skin manually.

Machine brows are more like a traditional tattoo where a micropigmentation machine (tattoo pen) is used to implant the pigment. After years of working with both methods I decided to stop offering the microblading service. In my opinion machine brows are the way forward, there is less trauma to the skin, better healed results, increased longevity in retention, and overall better client satisfaction.

Does it hurt?

I genuinely have clients fall asleep on the couch, so I am pretty comfortable saying no, overall this treatment won't hurt like you may think.

You will be numbed throughout your treatment to ensure optimal comfort.

How are the colours selected?

Colour is discussed during consultation, this will depend on your natural skin tones, hair colour, current makeup/powder colour and the outcome/look you would like. I always give a range of options and we test this on your skin before treatment starts to see how it will look.

Do you draw them on first?

Yes, I always draw on your new brows before we start, you will be mapped out to make sure your new brows are symmetrical, in the correct position and to check that you are happy with the new shape, thickness and style.

Do you shave my brows off?

NO. Although to me this is a crazy question apparently some people are doing it. But I will NOT shave off your full natural brow hair. If there is hair underneath the new brow shape that will be removed but NOT your full brow hair.

How long will it last?

Everyone retains pigment differently and a lot of lifestyle and other factors come into play however your new brows can last anything between 12-36 months. Some people like to get a yearly touch up to keep them fresh and perfected.

What happens during the healing phase?

Everyone’s healing times can vary however the general healing phase will go something like this;

Day 1 -          I love my new brows

Day 2-4 -      Ohh they look a little dark and thick

Day 5-8 -      Ok they’re flaking off now

Day 10-15 -  Omg they’ve disappeared where have my brows gone?

Day 15-30  - Pheww they’re coming back but a little patchy

Day 30 -       Touch up day. Omg my brows are perfect!

Where are your products from?

All products and needles I use are high quality, UK and FDA approved and quality assured. No corners have been cut to try and produce cheaper treatments.

Who is not suitable for SPMU?

Anyone under 18 CANNOT have any SPMU done. Anyone who is known to keloid scar or have trouble healing. If you are on any blood thinners, pregnant or breastfeeding. Other conditions or medication may need Dr's approval.

If you are unsure about anything else please pop me a message to discuss.
